About Fanlistings
A Fanlisting is a list of fans of a particular subject, in this case Catherine Marshall's Christy. Everyone is allowed to join and membership is free.

About the novel:
Christy was written by Catherine Marshall and published in 1967. It tells the story of a young girl in 1912 who leaves her nice home in Asheville to teach the poverty stricken mountain children. The mission school was located in Cutter Gap, Tennesse. Catherine Marshall based the story of Christy on her mother, who at a young age, also taught children in the Great Smokey Mountains. Christy is the heartwarming story of a young woman's faith and determination to help the people Cutter Gap.

About the tv show:
In 1994-1995, the tv show aired on CBS based on the Christy novel. It starred Kellie Martin as Christy. The show was filmed in Townsend, Tennesse. It was cancelled after only two seasons. To my great dismay, it had almost the same ending as the novel. (to keep from spoiling it, I won't say more.)

The Original Cast:
Kellie Martin as Christy Huddleston
Stewart Finlay-McLennan as Dr. Neil MacNeill
Randall Batinkoff as Rev. David Grantland
Tess Harper as Fairlight Spencer
Tyne Daly as Alice Henderson
Emily Schulman as Ruby Mae Morrison

Then in 2000, Pax Televison brought our beloved Christy to life again. There were 3 made for tv movies: Christy: Return to Cutter Gap, Christy: A Change of Seasons, and Christy: A New Beginning. The role of Christy was recast, and Lauren Lee Smith was chosen. James Waterston was recast as David Grantland and Stewart Finlay-McLennan returned in his role as Dr. MacNeill.

Christy Fest:
Chrsity Fest is an annual festival to celebrate Catherine Marshall's Christy. It is held in Townsend, Tennesse (located near Gatlinburg). According their website: "Each year cast members, producers, writers, directors and crew from both productions come to ChristyFest™ to share memories, mingle with fans and enjoy the beauty of the Great Smoky Mountains...In addition to this, the Festival explores related material such as mountain crafts, herbal medicines, music, history and early mountain culture."
